What else is there to say? Other than we’ve had more mass shootings in 2015 than we’ve had days in 2015. (From the Washington Post)
The San Bernadino incident was the second mass shooting of the day yesterday. The other didn’t seem to matter that much because only one person died.
It would be also be the second mass shooting just today — in the early morning hours, one person was killed and three were injured in an incident in Savannah, Georgia.
These figures come from a shooting database on Reddit:
The Mass Shooting Tracker is different from other shooting databases in that it uses a broader definition of mass shooting — the old FBI definition focused on four or more people killed as part of a single shooting.
According to the old FBI criteria, Savannah doesn’t count, because only one person was killed. So if a psychopath goes into a crowded place with an automatic weapon and wounds 100 people, that’s not a mass shooting.
As of this writing, police just had a shootout with the suspects in a San Bernadino suburb. Two of the suspects are dead. Let’s see if it’s called domestic terrorism.
